In case you haven’t already guessed from the rather strange title, The Expendabros combines elements from The Expendables with Broforce. Both of these action films were very popular when they were released and feature plenty of explosions, thrills and spills. Read on to discover if this collaboration packs a punch or if it is as disjointed as its title.

Surprisingly, this tie-in works extremely well. The Expendables and Broforce fit together almost as if they were made for each other and even people who have not watched any of the films from these franchises will be able to appreciate the smooth concept and hours of gaming fun that are provided.

The game is jam packed full of action and pixelated explosion that plays tribute to some of the most popular action films of the last few decades. The various missions in the game can either be played alone or with friends. Playing with a gang adds an extra dimension to the game and allows players to share the fun with their best buds.

Gamers start out with one bro and unlock the other characters as the game progresses by rescuing them from the cages that can be found scattered throughout the different levels. Each time players unlock a new character they will receive an extra life and be able to play the game as a whole new character. However, gamers who are in the zone with their existing character will still be able to continue the game with that character if they prefer so.

Each of the different characters is blessed with a standard attack that matches the moves of their character from the film. Gamers will be able to blast, flame, bomb and chop their way through the game while taking out anything in their path along the way including a whole host of mechanical monstrosities, attack dogs and enemy troops. Just like the most popular action films, the body count mounts up pretty quickly, which satisfies gamers’ thirst for blood.

Just about everything in the various levels of the game is destructible and there are plenty of explosive barrels that can aid players on their quest. Destroying the gaming environments can be almost as much fun as taking out the bad guys and there are plenty of opportunities to watch things go up in flames.

The Expendapros is complete chaos at times and there will certainly never be a dull moment. Just like the films that the game takes its inspiration from, following the plot and figuring out what’s going on can sometimes be tough, but that has never really been the point of this genre.

The only downside with this game is that it is rather short and players are sure to be left wanting more. In a way, this is an extra tribute to the fun and excitement of The Expendabros and making it to the end does not feel like a mission at all. Players can be sure that another instalment will be released almost before they know it, which will provide plenty more hours of gaming fun.

Despite the rather chunky graphics, The Expendabros is one of the best action games around. The best elements of the two action films have been well combined and offer players plenty of exciting action scenes with the addition of great missions that capture the thrill of this genre and almost feel like playing a starring role on the silver screen.
